JAKARTA--Commision II of Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of Bangka Belitung made a visit to Indonesian Oil Palm Estate Fund (BPDPKS) in Jakarta, Tuesday (26/6/2018). The delegation, led by the speaker of Commision II of Bangka Belitung DPRD Aksan Visyawan, exchanged views on oil palm development with  BPDPKS.

The Province of Bangka Belitung currently is encouraging the development of oil palm industry. The local government is planning to build palm oil mill that will have a production capacity of 15 tonnes per hour with an option to expand it 30 tonnes per hour.

The production will be managed by a regional-owned enterprise (BUMD). Bangka Belitung has almost 140 thousands hectares of oil palm plantations owned by private companies and 63 thousands hectares by smalholder farmers in six regencies. About 3.000 hectares of them are expected to be replanted in this year. **
