Muba to Begin Harvesting on Replanted Oil Palm Plantations

Musi Banyuasin (Muba) Regency of South Sumatra province has set out its plans to begin harvesting palm oil from plantations that were replanted under smallholders’ oil palm plantations replanting program (PSR).

SIKAYU--Musi Banyuasin (Muba) Regency of South Sumatra province has set out its plans to begin harvesting palm oil from plantations that were replanted under smallholders’ oil palm plantations replanting program (PSR) conducted in 2017. The initial harvesting is expected to be carried out on the area of 4.446 plantations at Sungai Lilin District.

“in October 2017 the President initiated replanting in Muba for the first time. In June 2020, we are expecting the President to initiate harvesting at the plantations,” Muba Regent Dodi Reza Alex said.

Dodi said that PSR program has saved and increased the economic level of 6,536 group of farmers from 24 cooperatives and joint venture group in Muba. Currently, in Muba regency alone, there are about 133,557 hectares of smallholders’ plantations that need to be replanted.

“PSR will continue in other areas. In 2019, we have replanted 12.238 hectares plantations owned by smallholders.”  (Source: Republika)
