PLN Optimistic All Diesel-Fueled Power Plants Use B20
PT PLN (Persero) strongly believes that all Diesel-Fueled Power Plants (PLTD) fully use B20 by the end of this year as current trouble is not in the reactors but merely a matter of supply. “We strongly believes we can meet the target. It means by December 2018 all PLTD use B20. The problem is about the supply,” Djoko Rahardjo Abu Manan, Business Director of PT PLN (Persero) for Eastern Java, Bali and Nusa Tenggara said in Jakarta, (18/10/2018) as quoted by Liputan 6. According to him, until 13 October 2018, PLN has absorbed 142.246 kiloliters of B20 or 47 percent of the total need 304.773 kiloliters until the end of this year. Djoko has admitted that distribution and logistic issues are hampering the implementation of B20 mandatory program, especially in eastern Indonesia. PLN recorded that B20 used by PLTD in Maluku and Papua has only reached 15 percent of the target. It should have reached 49.198 Kiloliters on 13 Oktober 2018. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) Ignasius Jonan has urged PLN to increase the use of palm oil-based fuel rather than using diesel fuel, especially for PLTD with total capacity 1.800 Mega Watt. “We have urged PLN to convert diesel fuel to B20 for all 1.800 MW generators. We hope it can be done by the end of this year. This is for real,” Jonan said as he spoke on business forum Indonesia-Finland in MEMR office, (9/10/2018). ***
