President Issues Instruction on National Action Plan on Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil 2019-2024

The Inpres is addressed to: Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs; Minister of National Development Planning/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas); Minister of Finance; Minister of Agriculture; Minister of Environment and Forestry; Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of National Land Agency; Minister of Foreign Affairs; Minister of Trade; Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources; Minister of Manpower; Minister of Home Affairs; Minister of Public Works and Public Housing; Cabinet Secretary; Head of Geospatial Information Agency; Governors; and Regents/Mayors.

The Presidential Instruction mandated ministers, governors and other officials to perform a number of actions: First, to improve data, to enhance coordination, and to improve infrastructure.

Second, to improve farmers’ capacity and capability. Third, to manage and protect environment. Fourth, to implement plantation management and dispute settlement. Fifth, to support acceleration of certification of Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) and to improve market access for palm oil products.

The Inpres also stated that implementation of the National Action Plan of Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil 2019-2024 can be carried out with participation of the public, businesses, and stakeholders in palm oil sector under rules and regulations. All expenditures are included in the state budget of ministries and institutions, local government budget, and/or other sources that are considered legal according to rules and regulations.
