The government monitors implementation of mandatory use of B20 and discusses its progress every week to make sure the implementation of the program runs smoothly.
“The aim of B20 program is to cut trade deficit. We will discuss its progress every Thursday. We will make a clear template and discuss it with the team,” Coordinating Minister of Economic affairs Darmin Nasution said on the press release, Thursday (13/9/2018).
At the meeting, Director General Oil & Gas Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Djoko Siswanto gave information about biofuel companies that have partially implemented B20 mandatory and others that haven’t implemented at all. He also revealed some fuel and biofuel companies that must be fined because of failing to fulfill the commitment.
Representative of Directorate General New and Renewable Energy and Conservation Energy of ESDM Ministry reported about biofuel companies that haven’t fulfill mandatory to supply Fatty Acid Methyl Esters (FAME) as yet and its constraints.
At the same meeting, President Director of the Indonesian Oil Palm Estate Fund (BPDPKS) Dono Boestami delivered presentation about debottlenecking and customer care to handle all technical and nontechnical problem.
Meanwhile, a representative from PT Pertamina (Persero) gave presentation about constraints on blending process, infrastructure needs, research, and list of fuel terminals that still sells B0.
Together with representation of related ministries, Darmin also received reports from fuel and biofuel companies, PT PLN, and Freeport. “They have to provide written reports to make easier for the team to monitor. This is a matter of great concern to the country. We are serious about this,” Darmin said.
In trying to implement B20 mandatory program, all parties play their roles based on five principles. First, no more B0 on the market. Second, imposing administrative sanctions and fines for all who fails to obey the rule. Third, incentives from BPDPKS. Fourth, the government assures FAME quality based on Indonesian National Standard (SNI). Fifth, public complaints will be handled by customer care. ***
