No B20 Exception for Private Companies

COORDINATING Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution has reiterated its decision to make it mandatory to use fuel with 20 percent bio content (B20) in transportation sector without any exception for private companies. “We have talked about it with Transportation Minister and businesspeople. Exception is only for some parties such as for military equipment and power plant, Darmin said in his office in Jakarta, Friday (9/11/2018) as reported by Antara. Darmin’s statement came to respond proposal from B20 users from marine transportation sector. Earlier, Indonesia National Shipowners’ Association (INSA) wrote a letter to Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, Transportation Ministry, and Industry Ministry to halt use of B20 because the fuel doesn’t suit ship engines. Indonesian Trucking Association (Aptrindo) has also proposed the same but Darmin has refused them. “No matter how big the vehicles are, there’s no exception for ships or trucks. They can’t suddenly ask for exception,” Darmin added. ***
