BPDPKS Supports Measures to Ease Replanting Fund Disbursement

JAKARTA-- Indonesian government is implementing two measures to improve performance of smallholders oil palm plantation replanting program. Firstly, cutting down on replanting fund disbursement procedures that is conducted by the Indonesian Oil Palm Estate Fund (BPDPKS). Secondly, increasing plantations replanting target from 14.000 hectares to 50.000 hectares by the end of November 2018.

Minister of Coordinating Economy Darmin Nasution said as he delivered Special Address on the 14th Indonesian Palm Oil Conference (IPOC) and 2019 Price Outlook at Bali International Convention Center (BICC), Nusa Dua, Bali, Thursday (1/11/2018), as published on Press Release.

Initially, as opening this conference, (29/10/2018), President Joko Widodo urged the importance of replanting program. This is important to increase productivity without opening new plantations. “I urged to ease disbursement replanting fund procedure. Make it one step only, because if this program runs well, smallholders income will improve,” President said.

President Director of the Indonesian Oil Palm Estate Fund (BPDPKS) Dono Boestami asserted that he fully supported all attempts to improve smallholders oil palm plantation. “BPDPKS supports policy to ease oil palm plantation fund disbursement. This is an important program to increase plantation productivity, as well as to increase smallholders’ income and improve their livelihood,” Dono said.

Dono revealed that by September 2018 BPDPKS has disbursed Rp364 billion fund to replant 14.792 hectare plantations. Smallholders oil palm plantation replanting program is targeted to cover 2,4 million hectares plantations in 20 provinces.

Currently, the program has done in South Sumatera, North Sumatera, and Riau. For this year, it is targeted to replant 185 thousand hectares smallholders’ plantation. “In this case, it needs to accelerate the process to meet the target,” Dono said. ***
