BPDPKS Disburses Rp364 Billion Grant for Replanting Oil Palm Plantation

JAKARTA-- In trying to increase smallholders’ oil palm plantation productivity, the Indonesian Oil Palm Estate Fund (BPDPKS) has disbursed grant of Rp364 billion until September 2018. The grant is aimed to replant 14.792 hectares smallholders’ oil palm plantations.
Director of Finance, General, Compliance, and Risk Management of BPDPKS Catur Ariyanto Widodo said BPDPKS hal also conducted measures to speed up replanting program. “Improvement is practically needed to accelerate fund disbursement, particularly in verification and administration procedures,” Catur said as he delivered a presentation in the 14th Indonesian Palm Oil Conference and 2019 Price Outlook di Nusa Dua, Bali, (Thursday, 1/11/2018).
In trying to speed up the process, BPDPKS has also proposed to do some measures. Firstly, to hire independent surveyors to verify smallholders terms. This is expected to ease the verification process. Secondly, BPDPKS facilitates smallholders to access financial sources from banks.
Thirdly, to apply IT solution to ease duplicative process. Fourthly, to engage with state owned-enterprises and private companies to build cooperation between smallholders and nucleus estates. “Those are our attempts to achieve sustainable palm oil and to achieve the ambitious target of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” Catur said. ***
