Govt Introduces IT System for Biodiesel Distribution

The Indonesian government has launched an Information Technology System to facilitate verification process of biodiesel distribution documents which will be used by the Indonesia Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDPKS) to disburse biodiesel incentives. The integrated IT system which can be accessed online is provided mainly to support implementation of biodiesel distribution and its blending with diesel fuel as well as to verify inquiries applications for biodiesel fund disbursement. The launching ceremony was held at Hotel Borobudur, Jakarta, Friday (9/82019). Attendees at the event included government officials from Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, BPDPKS, PT Surveyor Indonesia, as well as representatives of biofuel and fuel companies that have biodiesel procurement contracts within the framework of financing by BPDPKS. Since 2016, the government has made it mandatory for biodiesel to have a bio-content of 20 percent (B20) to be used in transportation and industrial sectors as well as B30 for power plants. In order to ensure the mandatory program reaches optimum result, BPDPKS covers the price differential between diesel fuel and biofuel, as defined by the Market Price Index (MPI). The decision to disburse funds to cover the price differential is based on the result of verification conducted by the Directorate General of Oil and Gas of Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR). PT Surveyor Indonesia (Persero) provides assistance to verify inquiries applications for biodiesel fund disbursement for period of January-December 2019.
