President Calls Czech Senate to Support Palm Oil
President Joko Widodo called the Senate of the Czech Republic to support palm oil in Europe, since it is a sensitive commodity for millions people in Indonesia. The President’s statement came as he met Czech Republic Senate delegates at Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Monday (17/9/2018). Attendees at the meeting included officials from Czech’s chamber of commerce. “The President’s message was a call to support Indonesian palm oil products,” Vice Foreign Minister A.M. Fachir said as he described about results of the meeting. Fachir said, President Jokowi reiterated to delegation that more than 17 million people in Indonesia make a living from palm oil. That’s why Indonesia need strong support to maintain palm oil export stability as well as to improve oil palm farmers’ livelihoods. Indonesia continuously intensifies its efforts to counter the black campaign on palm oil products as  European countries have aggressively been issuing regulations cornering Indonesia as the largest producer the products. The regulations are mostly driven by the black campaigns. In response to the President’s call, Czech delegates said they agreed to resolve palm oil disputes as soon as possible. They also expressed their interest in bolstering business cooperation with Indonesia, particularly in energy sector. *** (Antara)
