Indonesian government is preparing a test for biodiesel 40% or B40 by March 2020. Currently, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) is preparing for the test to obtain proper mixture.

JAKARTA—Indonesian government is preparing a test for biodiesel 40% or B40 by March 2020. Currently, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) is preparing for the test to obtain proper mixture.  

“We’ll find out the best blending of B40 for engines. We hope the test will be on schedule (test on March),” Director of Bioenergy at Directorate of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation of MEMR Andriah Feby Misna said to Kompas.com in Jakarta, Thursday (13/2/2020).

Earlier, Chairman of Indonesian Biofuel Association (Aprobi) MP Tumanggor told reporters that B40 test will be kicked off by March 2020. “I think the test will be next month, I have just received a letter from Oil and Gas Research Centre requesting us to send them core materials,” Tumagor said at Coordinating Ministry of Maritime and Investment office, (10/2/2020).

He said that the test will be carried out soon as directed by President Joko Widodo who wanted to implemented B40 program by January 2021. “Everthings must be tested, we have to conduct a road test.”

Tumagor also said that there will be two options of test for B40 program. The first test will directly blend biodiesel with 40% Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME). “The second test is an option to process CPO in destilation process. We’ll find out what the result of the two option,” he said. *** (Source: Kompas.com)
