FAME Distribution Reach 2,42 Million KL

Director General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Rida Mulyana has revealed that distribution of Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME), the bio content of B20, has reached 2,42 million kiloliters (KL) by 24 October 2018 of the allocation target of 3,91 million KL. He said, it is a good achievement as it shows significant progress dispite the fact that there are a number of obstacles. “It shows progress on production side and relatively has no problem on acceptance side as tanks to store the FAME are all ready,” he said in Jakarta, Friday (26/10/2018) as quoted by Katadata. In implementing the expanded B20 mandatory program, government encountered  a number of obstacles in distributing FAME from biofuel producers to fuel companies. It is mostly because of lack of vessels as it needs vessels with special specification to distribute FAME. The other issue is about capability of the fuel terminal to produce B20 as not all available fuel terminals are able to blend FAME and diesel fuel. In trying to handle the issue, starting from 1 January 2018 the government will cut down FAME distribution points from 86 fuel terminals to only 10 terminals. ***
