The funding program has resulted 173 research contracts, 158 national and international scientific publications, 40 patents, and 5 books. BPDPKS provides research funding intended to encourage research activities on palm oil. The research results will be integrated into policy process aimed to improve economic growth. Currently, BPDPKS provides grants to help researchers undertake scientific research activities to achieve several goals: Firstly, to strengthen, develop, and improve empowerment of oil palm plantation and palm oil industry in a synergy from upstream to downstream.

Secondly, to consolidate data of land area, productivity of plantations, mills, and farmers collected by Coordinating Economic Ministry and other ministries or institutions. The research is intended to support policy making on adjustment of the trade system for Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) as well as to empower smallholder farmers and improve strategy in palm oil diplomacy. Thirdly, to develop domestic market by using palm oil-based fuels which are expected to be used in all transportation sectors, including aviation.

Followings are ongoing research being undertaken on industrial scale:

(1) Development of palm oil catalytic cracking process for biofuel production by LPPM ITB collaborated with PT EMI,

(2) Development of calcium soap production from Palm Fatty Acid Distillate (PFAD) for ruminant feed by LPPM ITB collaborated with ruminant feed industry,

(3) Development of factory of sandwich laminated panelboard from oil palm oil trunks obtained from replanting. The research is conducted by IOPRI collaborated with Government of North Sumatera. **
