Palm Oil Stakeholders Has to Fight Against Negative Campaign

JAKARTA--Indonesian government has called on palm oil stakeholders to join hands to fight the negative campaign against palm products by educating people about the importance of palm oil.

“Gapki and BPDPKS has to work with marketing coomunication in Europe to educate people in Europe,” said Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita in Gapki’s 10th National Meeting, Wednesday (14/3/2018).

He said, Indonesia has to keep on fighting against unfair on Indonesia’s palm products. That’s why, Enggartiasto said, he always keeps in touch with European counterparts concerning those discrimantion. "We have to be offensive and not defensive against them," he suggested.

Back in June 2017, a majority in Norwegian parliament voted to ban domestic use of palm oil-based biodiesel in a bid to protect the climate and rain-forests. Enggartiasto saw this a signal of trade war. "We are going to ask for explanation, if there’s a ban to our plam products, we will tell them that they start a trade war,” said Enggartiasto. ***
