Mukomuko Regency to Finalize Oil Palm Trees Replanting by End of May

Government of Mukomuko Regency in Indonesia’s Bengkulu Province aims to finalize oil palm trees replanting program on 562 hectares of land by the end of May 2020. The replanting was part of government program to improve productivity of oil palm plantations operated by smallholders.

MUKOMUKO—Government of Mukomuko Regency in Indonesia’s Bengkulu Province aims to finalize oil palm trees replanting program on 562 hectares of land by the end of May 2020. The replanting was part of government program to improve productivity of oil palm plantations operated by smallholders.

The plantations on 562 ha of land in Mukomuko Regency were operated by five farmer groups, namely KRP Tunas Harapan that operates 54.15 ha, KRP Tanera Sejahtera 103.3 ha, KRP Wanita Usaha 134.17 ha, KRP Sungai Batau 167.96 ha, and farmers group in district of Kota Mukomuko that operates 103 ha of land.

“We expect to finalize it by May this year. There’s only one district left that hasn’t start felling and chipping neither sowing the seeds,” Head of Production Division at Agriculture Office of Mukomuko Regency Asri said in his statement, (2/5/2020).

He said, most of farmers had finalized felling and chipping unproductive trees. Over 70 percent of the 562 ha of land has been sown with good quality seeds and only two of five farmer groups haven’t yet sow seeds.

Asri estimated the two farmer groups in district of Kota Mukomuko would finalize the whole process, including felling and chipping as well as sowing the seeds by May this year. *** (Source: Antara)
