Luhut Explains Oil Palm Diplomacy Strategy to Parliament

COORDINATING Minister of Maritime Luhut B. Pandjaitan explained the progress of oil palm diplomacy to the House of People Representatives (DPR), related to the negative campaign against Indonesian palm oil. Luhut conveyed there are five strategies executed. `There are five strategies that have been done by Indonesia namely, further engagement stakeholders in the European Union, mainstreaming Indonesian sustainable palm oil, communication strategy, dissemination of oil palm information, and oil palm seminars facilitated by the Vatican,` said Luhut to the DPR’s Budget Committee in  Jakarta (7/6/2018). According to him, the government continues to explain aggressively the closed linkage between oil palm agriculture and welfare in Indonesia. So far, the national palm oil industry has become one of life support for thousands of farmers and help to alleviate poverty in Indonesia. In addition, the understanding of the absence of deforestation as alleged by many parties. The dialogue efforts undertaken are expected to result in a more comprehensive understanding of Indonesia`s oil palm by the international world, particularly by the European Union. During the occasion, Luhut also explained about the achievements in other fields. Among other things, the operation of Kertajati Airport in Majalengka, and the construction of waste processing installation into energy, and the investment cooperation between Indonesia and China. ***
