Indonesian delegation at International Green Week Berlin 2019 held a palm oil stakeholders meeting to share knowledge of palm oil with international community.
The Palm Oil Stakeholder Forum was held at the International Green Week Berlin 2019 in Berlin, Germany, 22 January 2019. Attendees at the meeting are officials from government included Indonesian Ambassador for Germany Arif havas Oegroseno and President Director of the Indonesian Oil Palm Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDPD) Dono Boestami who delivered a Palm Oil Contribution on Achieving SDG’s Goal-themed presentation.
Some presentations were also delivered from palm oil industry perspectives, by Vice Chairman of Indonesian Palm Oil Association (Gapki) Togar Sitanggang who spoke about “Indonesian Oil Palm Industry: Good Agricultural Practices” and by Harry Hanawi from Indonesian Biofuel Producers Association who presented “Green Energy with Palm Oil”.
Presentations with balanced views of the issue from academia and researcher were also delivered to the forum by experts. Chairman of Indonesian Oil Palm Research Institute Suroso Rahutomo gave an interesting presentation on “Palm Oil and Health Issues”; Professor of the Faculty of Forestry of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Yanto Santosa spoke about Palm Oil and Deforestation in Indonesia; and a world leader in peatlands management with Germany’s University of Greifswald Hans Joosten presented “Challenges in Cultivating Peatland for Agriculture”.
Attendees at the discussion forum included businesspeople from palm oil industry and international community.
International Green Week Berlin, which was held from 18 to 27 January 2019, has been a gathering of international food ministries and producers for 96 years, showcasing the traditional food and drinks of their nations, trading products, and sharing innovative ideas and techniques in farming, brewing, and horticulture. Every year it attracts over 400,000 consumers and trade visitors. This is also the venue for the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA), an international conference that focuses on central questions concerning the future of the global agri-food industry. ***
