Ministry of Environment and Forestry of Indonesia organized an event at Saarland University, Germany to introduces Indonesian latest product innovations to the international communities. “The Indonesia Innovation Day 2019”-themed event was a showcase for Indonesian innovations, including timber products made of oil palm trunk biomass. The event, which was held at the end of last June, introduced the product innovation of the Research and Development Centre on Forestry of Ministry of Environment and Forestry (P3HH).

The government of Indonesia considered it important to introduce the timber products to the world in trying to penetrate the European market. The innovation will also be discussed on a seminar with stakeholders to support palm oil products in the European market. The products are also expected to be one of Indonesian innovative effort to reduce emission by implementing sustainable oil palm plantation and to protect tropical rainforest. As part of the Indonesia Innovation Day 2019, a meeting was also held in Berlin to discuss a highly topical theme “Introducing Oil Palm Timber Products and Biomass Potency in European Market.

The meeting had a presence of several officials from Indonesian Embassy in Berlin, Indonesian Consulate General in Frankfurt, Indonesian Consulate General in Hamburg with Trade Attache in Berlin and Indonesia Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Hamburg, Trade Attaches, Agriculture Attaches and ITPC in Europe. Some presentations were delivered by researcher of P3HH, Jamal Balfas; Assistant to The Coordinating Economic Minister’s Deputy for Food and Agriculture, Wilistra Danny; and Secretary General of Indonesian Palm Oil Association (Gapki), Kanya Lakshmi Sidarta. ***
