BPDPKS Holds Palm Oil Course for Students in Palopo
In a bid to improve technical knowledge on oil palm cultivation, the Indonesian Oil Palm Estate Fund (BPDPKS) collaborated with LPP Yogyakarta organized technical training for vocational high school students in South Sulawesi. The training that was held at Hotel Palopo, Palopo, South Sulawesi, Monday (26/11/2018), was attended by 60 vocational high school students who are also children of oil palm smallholders.
In a bid to improve technical knowledge on oil palm cultivation, the Indonesian Oil Palm Estate Fund (BPDPKS) collaborated with LPP Yogyakarta organized technical training for vocational high school students in South Sulawesi. The training that was held at Hotel Palopo, Palopo, South Sulawesi, Monday (26/11/2018), was attended by 60 vocational high school students who are also children of oil palm smallholders. They joined the class for six days, from 25 to 30 November 2018.
They studied theory and practice in all aspect of oil palm cultivation, included knowledge on land opening, nursery practice, planting, managing, and harvesting. They also had a chance for site visit to oil palm plantation in Luwu operated by PTPN XIV (Persero). Head of LPP Yogyakarta Campus Susilawardani said that one of the key success in oil palm cultivation is skilled human resources. Vocational high school students need to improve their skill given the fact that they are next generation in Indonesia palm oil industry. Head of Agriculture Office of Palopo Municipal Government, Harisman showed appreciations and praise for the event. “We expect this event could build skilled human resources who will improve oil palm plantation.
