Trade Ministers Enggartiasto Lukita worries about negative campaign against palm oil will influence public views on palm oil, especially to young people. Some negative campaigns have linked palm oil to several health problem. He said, there are still a number of people, especially young people, who contended that palm oil cause a variety of ailments, such as cholesterol and heart disease. In fact, palm oil has been linked to several health benefits. “We have to assure the public about that. I am 67 years old now and consume foods fried by palm cooking oil all my life. I’m telling you palm oil has got nothing to do with health problem,” Enggartiasto said as he delivered speech on the National Seminar on Indonesian Oil Palm with the theme “Strengthening BPDPKS Institutional Foundation to Support Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil, Reduce the Poverty Rate, and Improve People’s Welfare” at Borobudur Hotel, Jakarta, Monday (20/8/2018). In this case, Enggartiasto laid stress on the importance of marketing communication to the public, including to international community.
