Three Palm Oil Mills to be Built in Pesisir Selatan West Sumatra

Three Palm Oil Mills will be built in Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra, by the end of July this year. The new mills are expected to help stabilizing Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) price from smallholder farmers in Pesisir Selatan. Two of the mills will be build at Lunang sub-distric and the other will be located at Lengayang sub-distric. “We have issued principle license as our response to investors who seriously invest in Pesisir Selatan,” said Suardi, Head of Licensing Office of Pesisir Selatan Regency as reported by Haluan (22/7/2108) The three sub-districs have potential oil palm estates operated by smallholder farmers. Under certain circumstances, FFB price at farmers level decline to lowest level as too many supplies in the market. “For the time being, FFB price at farmers level reach by Rp500 to Rp550 per kg. We hope the new mills could raise the price,” said Suardi. ***
