Punishment Will Soon Be Imposed to B20 Companies

STARTING from October 2018, the government will punish companies that fail to distribute or mix B20. The B20 policy was introduced on 1 September 2018 as part of the government’s efforts to reduce crude oil imports. A fine of a maximum of Rp6.000 per liter  and revocation of permit would be imposed on any companies that fail to implement provisions stipulated in the regulation, whether they were a natural oil fuel company (BU BBM) or a biofuel company (BU BBN). “We will decide on companies that have to pay fine within two weeks. We will announce which companies that fail to distribute or mix B20 and which companies must be fined,” Coordinating Economic Minister Darmin Nasution said in Jakarta (27/9/2018). Darmin said by the end of this month the program still faced several problems, particularly the sluggish process of distribution of Fatty Acid Methyl Esters (FAME). In that case, there are some companies still using B0. He said, the implementation expanded b20 mandatory program was well prepared as calculation had also been made, including calculation on stakeholders’ commitment. However, it was not exactly as expected. ***
