President Joko Widodo ensured that Indonesia is serious in dealing with the plan to expand the mandatory fuel with 20% biodiesel content (B20). The President asked for supports to implement the plan. “I request all support so that the plan to substitute fuel imports with biodiesel could run smoothly,” said the President on his speech as he opened the 26th Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), Thursday (2/8/2018). The President said Indonesia’s biodiesel 20% program could raise global price of palm oil and save Indonesia’s foreign exchange reserve as much as US$5,9 billion. This foreign exchange saving could cut current account deficit as much as US$6 billion. “We solve our deficit problem in such a way. Therefore, I demand unfailing and serious support to implement B20. In 1970, Brazil succeeded implement 100% bioethanol from sugar cane. We have million tons palm oil, we can do this,” said Jokowi. ***
