President Discusses Palm Oil to European Ambassadors
PRESIDENT Joko Widodo continues to campaigning for Indonesian palm oil to Europe. Through the Ambassador of European countries actively serving in Indonesia, Jokowi conveys the message about the palm oil of Indonesia. This was conveyed by the President when he received the Letter of Faith from 11 Ambassadors of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Designated Resident and Designated Non Resident for Republic of Indonesia at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, (4/4/2019). The ambassadors from the European Union are representatives of Russia, Georgia, Latvia and Poland. At the same occasion, he also received the Ambassador from Bahrain, South Korea, Australia, Fiji, Uganda, Gambia, and Ivory Coast. According to Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi, President Jokowi stressed out the importance of mutually beneFcial economic cooperation between the two countries. `Indonesia is asking for more attention on the issue of palm oil,` Retno said as quoted by Liputan6.com. In terms of palm oil, the government is working to approach the EU to soften its stance on palm oil products from Indonesia. Earlier, the EU Parliament conFrmed the ban on palm-based biodiesel. The government views the policy as a discriminatory act against Indonesia`s palm products. ***
