Oil Palm Tree Replanting Program in Musi Banyuasin continues. This program has been monitored directly by Beni Hernedi as a Caretaker Musi Banyuasin City Council. Beni stated that in the event of first harvest of maize crops in oil palm tree replanting area managed by the Village Unit Cooperatives of Mukti Jaya in Mulyo Rejo Village, Sungai Lilin District, Monday (14/5/2018). `We will monitor oil palm tree replanting program to make sure the program runs smoothly,` Said Beni. Beni also said that intercropping program in oil palm replanting area will inspire other villages to do the same thing. `We make sure this program will always continue. For any problems in the field, we will discuss them with the community to find best solution so that their maize can acces market and they can receive better income,` he said. According to village unit cooperatives of Mukti Jaya Chairman, Bambang Gianto, a total of land owned by the cooperatives is almost 3.848 hectare. However, oil palm plantation that has been proposed to be replanted is almost 2.448 hectare. Meanwhile, total maize plantation donated by Provincial Government of South Sumatra has reached 633 hectares in six different villages, that is Mulyo Rejo, Cinta Damai, Berlian Makmur, Bukit Jaya, Bumi Kencana, and Panca Tunggal. `We have absorbed many workers from the local community to work in oil palm tree replanting project, especially replanting in the lands owned by the Villages Unit Cooperatives. To support our intercropping, we need grant of harvest equipments and corn dryer machine,” said Bambang as he mentioned that local government has granted them 13 units of tractors and 42 units of corn planting equipment. ***
