INDONESIAN Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi met her Malaysian counterpart Saifuddin Abdullah on Monday (23/7/2018). The two foreign ministers discussed a number of issues, including negative campaign against palm oil.
As stated on press statement, the two ministers had comprehensive discussion concerning President Joko Widodo and Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammad agreement in the previous meeting in Bogor Presidential Palace (29/6/2018). Jokowi and Mahtahir agreed to fight against negative campaign on palm oil.
Retno said to the press that she had already sent a letter to her counterpart in European Union concerning this issue. “I told (Saifuddin) that I have sent a letter to EU Foreign Minister and he said he will be doing the same.”
Saifuddin said that the two nations had no other choice but to band together to tackle the issue.
The two foreign ministers also discussed a number of issues, including border agreements and labour issues, in addition to diplomatic notifications on matters involving Indonesian citizens. ***
