Govt Makes Progress on FAME Distribution

Distribution of Fatty Acid methyl Esters (FAME) has made some progress since the expanded B20 mandatory program introduced on 1 September 2018. FAME shipment from 1 September to 10 October 2018 has reached  437,980 kiloliters or 15 percent of its total allocation for September-December 2018  of 2.85 million kiloliters. FAME, which is the bio content of B20, is distributed to fuel terminals across the country to be blended with diesel fuel. Director General New Renewable Energy and Conservation Energy of Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Rida Mulyana strongly believes the target of 3.9 million kiloliters can be achieved by the end of this year. “We acknowledge that distribution has yet to reach its optimal level. But if I may claim, the progress we made until September is even much better. The issue is about supply chain at midstream level,” Rida said in Jakarta, Monday (15/10/2018) as quoted by Bisnis.com. There are a number of obstacles in distributing FAME from biofuel producers to fuel companies, mostly because of lack of vessels. That’s why Coordinating Economic Ministry demanded port authority to give priority to FAME as they do to daily basic needs. ***
