Govt Calls for Environment Protection by Using Biodiesel

The government has called for environment protection by using eco-friendly fuel, like biodiesel and Pertamax. This is important action to protect environment for future generations. State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno said to about 7,500 “Pertamina Eco Run 2018” participants, in Tangerang, Sunday (9/12/2018). `We are doing this for cleaner environment for the people of Indonesia, specially for our children and grandchildren in the future,` she said. Rini added that the government is implementing expanded B20 mandatory program in all transportation sectors. B20 is a blend of 20 percent by volume biodiesel with 80 percent by volume petroleum diesel. The program is designed to cut down Indonesian dependency on fossil-based fuels. B20 used in Indonesian is blended fuel with highest bio content that is formally used in the world. Furthermore, the government is planning to implement B30, a fuel with 30 percent palm oil-based biodiesel content. She said, if the program runs well, Indonesia can save more foreign exchange reserves. Besides, it will protect environment as biodiesel is environmentally friendlier that fossil-based fuels. “Please notice that Eco Run is an attempt to protect the ecosystem to keep the air cleaner,” Rini added. ***
