B20 is Safe for Mining Machinery
The Government’s policy to expand the use of B20 to non subsidized sector will mandate all diesel-engined vehicles, including machinery in mining field, to use fuel with 20 percent biodiesel content. The government assured that palm oil-based B20 is proven to be safe for mining vehicles and heavy machinery. Director General of New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Rida Mulyana confirmed that there are some mining companies use biodiesel. They reported good news that there were no problems on their vehicles and heavy equipment after using biodiesel. Rida appreciates companies that uses biodiesel. “There has been no final conclusions yet, but the preliminary report said that there were no problem at all to the engine,” Rida said as quoted by detikfinance (31/8/2018) . According to him, B20 is safe as long as it is blended following correct procedure at all times. The government will always monitor B20 production to make sure it is blended correctly.  “It is safe. A good-quality biodiesel generally performs well in engine as long as the biodiesel is blended following correct procedure. Trials on locomotive proved a complete success.” Starting from 1 September 2018, the Government make it mandatory for biodiesel to have a bio-content of 20 percent.  All diesel consumers, including in Public Service Obligation (PSO) sector and non-PSO, must use biodiesel B20. ***
