PT Pertamina (Persero) has been attempting to boost the distribution of biodiesel B20 to all parts of the Indonesian archipelago since the government launched expanded B20 mandatory program on 1 September 2018.
Pertamina has set the fuel terminal of Tanjung Uban in Riau Islands Province as the main hub of Fatty Acids Methyl Esters (FAME) to deliver to northern Sumatera, southern Sumatera, and western Kalimantan. The terminal will also distribute B20 to near terminals.
Pertamina’s Director of Logistic, Supply Chain and Infrastructure Gandhi Sriwidodo said the Tanjung Uban terminal will store FAME of about 8,700 Kiloliter (KL) per month. This is enough to supply Sumatera and Western Kalimantan.
`Since the expanded B20 program launched, Tanjung Uban terminal has received FAME and distribute B20 to surrounding terminals to be delivered to gas station, fuel bunkers, vessels in northern Sumatera, some parts in Kalimantan, and South Sulawesi as well,” Gandhi said in his written statement, Sunday (16/9/2018).
In Tanjung Uban, the FAME is blended with diesel fuel to produce B20 and distribute them directly to near terminal, such as to Kijang terminal in Tanjungpinang, Kabil terminal in Batam, and Natuna. `Tanjung Uban has a strategic role to provide fuels to Aceh, North Sumatra, Riau Islands, and surrounding areas,` he said. ***
