After B20, Government Plans to Develop B100
The government is planning to develop biofuel 100% for its med-term target as soon as it finishes implementing biodiesel 20% (B20) program. The current mix, called B20, is a blend comprising 20% vegetable oil. Indonesia has owned technology to produce 100% biofuel that is as efficient as fuel oil technology. This plan is aimed to substitute imported fuel oil with 100% biofuel, also known as green diesel. `We switch from B20 and for mid-term plan we switch to green diesel. The government will decide the time later,” said Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto on the press conference after attending a briefing in presidential office, Friday (20/7/2018). According to him, the available technology is ready develop biofuel 100% so that modifications to engines and machinery that already use renewable energy wouldn’t be needed. The development of B100 is also aimed to encourage the nation to stand on its own feet since it will fully use crude palm oil (CPO) for raw material. Airlangga is also completely confident that this plan has positive effects to oil palm farmers. “This is the government effort to encourage self-sufficient economy.”  ***
