THINGS are looking great for oil palm smallholder farmers in Bangka Belitung Islands, following the price agreements between farmers, manufacturers, and government. The price of oil palm Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) in the Islands is expected to go up on 1 October 2018 at Rp1,028. An agreement has reached in the office of the Pemrov Islands of Bangka Belitung, Friday (28/9/2018). `Based on the agreement, it has been decided that the price level at factory Rp1,028 starting from 1 October and valid for a week. For another week, the price will be based on CPO global price,” Alfian, chairman of Apkasindo said as reported by Bangkapos. According to him, if the price of factory-level has been agreed, then the price of oil palm at the level of farmers is expected to go up as well. `We are expeting the price will go up from Rp400-Rp500 to Rp700-Rp900.” Chairman of Palm Oil Task Force of Bangka Belitung Islands Yulizar Adnan said that the agreement was reached on tough discussion. “We actually wanted Rp900 for the price, but it was difficult to agree,” he said. ***
