Indonesian government plans to start using biodiesel 40% (B40) by July 2021. Coordinating Economics Minister Airlangga Hartarto asked the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) to be ready for the test.

JAKARTA—Indonesian government plans to start using biodiesel 40% (B40) by July 2021. Coordinating Economics Minister Airlangga Hartarto asked the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) to be ready for the test.

 “The government has rolled out a road map for biodiesel 40% to cut import. We are expecting BPPT to be ready for the test so that we can start using B40 by July 2021,” Airlangga said in Jakarta, Monday (24/2/2020).

Airlangga added that B40 program was part of the road map of Industry 4.0 which includes downstream import, substitution products, pharmacetical-based products, and other industry. At the present, the government has been implementing B30 program and the fuel is now avalaible for the public in Pertamina gas stations.

Earlier, Director of Bioenergy at Directorate of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Andriah Feby Misna said that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) is preparing for the test to obtain proper mixture.  

“We’ll find out the best blending of B40 for engines. We hope the test will be on schedule (test on March),” Director of Bioenergy at Directorate of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation of MEMR Andriah Feby Misna said to Kompas.com in Jakarta, Thursday (13/2/2020). *** (Source: Kompas.com)
