Biofuel Producers Want B30 to be Implemented by Early 2019

JAKARTA--Biofuel producers are expecting government to make it mandatory for biodiesel to have a bio-content of at least 30 percent by early next year as crude palm oil stocks are available and producers are ready.

“If we want to save foreign-exchange reserves, we have to cut down on fuel import. We have to replace imported fuels with fatty acid methyl esters (FAME). Today we are using B20, then we have to step forward to B30,” PT Wilmar Nabati Indonesia Director MP Tumagor said, Wednesday (14/11/2018).

He is very confident that CPO supply is enough to produce 12 million kiloliters per month. “We have opportunity to do so, unless the producers are not ready,” he said.

According to him, if use of diesel fuel reach 30 million kiloliters, then Indonesia could save 9 million kiloliters diesel fuel import, assumed that 30% of diesel fuel is replaced by CPO. “That’s why we are expecting government to accelerate use of B30. It would be better if we do it on April 2019.”

Vice Chairman of Indonesian Biofuel Producers Association (Aprobi) Bernard A Riedo added that if the government agree to implement the proposal, biofuel producers will increase production capacity. *** (Source: Kontan)
