Oil Palm Marathon Officially Launched, Promotes Sustainable Palm Oil to the World

THE Oil Palm Marathon which will be held in Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra, Indonesia on 13 October 2019 was officially launched in Medan, Sunday (23/6/2019). This is the first marathon event taking runners through the course, which covers oil palm plantation. President Director of the Indonesia Oil Palm Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDPKS) Dono Boestami launched the “For Sustainable Oil Palm”-themed running race at Hotel Santika Medan, marked with flag-off ceremony of the 5K running race in which runners for around North Sumatera, amateurs, and employees of palm oil companies participated. Themed “For Sustainable Oil Palm”, the Palm Oil Marathon is organized by the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (Gapki) of North Sumatera, the Indonesian Vegetable Oil Association (GIMNI), and supported by the Indonesia Oil Palm Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDPKS). Apart from being a running event, Oil Palm Marathon might be a promotional event of Indonesia sustainable palm oil to the world as participants, including professional athletes, from various countries around the globe will join the event. “The running event, that offers participants the opportunity to win total prizes of Rp264 million, is also aimed to promote palm oil,” Chairman of the Committee H Kacuk Sumarto said. Oil Palm Marathon 2019 will bring in people from all over the world to run together including professional athletes, amateurs, students, as well as members of Indonesian Army and National Police. The race offers competitors a course along Bangun Bandar oil palm plantation in Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatera. The event offers challenging race with the following categories: First, Men/Women Close National Category (close) 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and Full Marathon.
