INDONESIA participated in the 16th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO), eyeing increased exposure and enhancing exports to China and fellow Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries.

INDONESIA participated in the 16th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO), eyeing increased exposure and enhancing exports to China and fellow Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries. The expo was held at Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center in Nanning, China, 21–24 September 2019. “Participating in CAEXPO was part of our commitment to strengthen trade relationship and investment with China and ASEAN countries,” Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, who also led Indonesia delegation at CAEXPO, said at the opening session. The event also had the presence of Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita and Presiden Director of the Indonesia Oil Palm Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDPKS) Dono Boestami. Indonesia featured two pavilions, Commodities Pavilion and National Pavilion (City of Charm). The Commodities Pavilion displayed various consumers products, foods and beverages, fashion, accessories and jewelries, home decorating accessories, and furniture. While, City of Charm which is featured House of Indonesian Palm Oil showcased various palm oil products and information about the industry. There are 111 Indonesian companies, including small-scale firms, joined the exhibition and promoted their products in 104 booths. Three special booths used by Kapal Api, APP Sinar Mas, and BPDPKS. `` Enggartiasto praised CAEXPO as the event could strengthen relationship with ASEAN and China. “The business forum could give more trade and investment opportunities for China and ASEAN,” said the Trade Minister. CAEXPO is an annual exhibition offering market access and trade relationship with China. It is an important gateway for ASEAN commodities to enter China, and aims to build a platform for Chinese enterprises to invest in ASEAN. The expo brought together 10 ASEAN countries, including Indonesia which was named country of honour for 2019. The expo was held under CAFTA agreement as the result of 7th China-ASEAN Summit in Bali on October 2003. ***
