BPDPKS Promotes Palm Oil to Russian Business Community

The Indonesian Oil Palm Estate Fund (BPDPKS) delivered a presentation to the Russian business community on palm oil industry and its contribution to economic development in Indonesia. Director of Fund Disbursement of BPDPKS Edi Wibowo delivered the presentation focused on the theme of “High Quality Indonesian Palm Oil: Application and Current Issues” during a discussion session on the Russian-Indonesian Business Forum in the event of Festival Indonesia in Moscow, (2/8/2018). As reported by Antara news agency, Edi revealed that smallholder farmers has a significant role in national palm oil industry. Edi conveyed that oil palm plantation sector has contributed to poverty reduction by more than 10 million people. In rural areas, conservative estimate suggest that at least 1.3 million rural Indonesians were lifted from poverty due to growth in the palm oil sector. For that reason, the government is focusing on increasing the productivity of individually run palm oil businesses by implementing a replanting program. In this regard, President Joko Widodo aims to distribute free land certificates to ensure that the replanting efforts can run smoothly.
