BPDPKS Encourages Use of B20 Through Socialization

THE Indonesian Oil Palm Estate Fund (BPDPKS) has launched a series of B20 socialization in some cities to make sure the expanded B20 program is well implemented. A socialization event was organized in Batam, Riau, Islands, Wednesday (26/9/2018), attended by stakeholders of the program. The “Biodiesel for The People and Country”-themed event was officially launched by Syamsul Bahrum, the 2^nd Assistance for Economic Development to the Governor of Riau Islands. Attendees at the meeting included officials from the government, fuel and biofuel companies, classification agencies, related associations, academia, state-owned enterprises, etc. Similar events will also be held in other cities and the upcoming one will be held in Palembang, South Sumatera. A part from socializing the use of B20, this event is also organized to encourage stakeholders to actively participate in making a success of this program. “We require public participation and commitment to support the expanded b20 mandatory program in all sectors,” Edi Wibowo, Director of Fund Disbursement of BPDPKS said. The flavour of this event was not only captured by the contents which resulted from presentations given by invited speakers, but also from audiences. Attendees were also welcomed to share their experience in using B20. Some of them shared that B20 is safe for diesel engines. “We have been using B20 and we have no serious problem to use it on our ship engines. Furthermore, we are not only using B20, but also B40 and B50,” Johannes, a representatives of Wilmar Group said. Basically, there’s no differences between using B20 and diesel fuel. However, engines with B20 need more maintenance. “ The key is to make sure that the fuel filter is clean,” Johannes said. ***
